Supporting New York’s academic medical centers at the forefront of biomedical research
Biomedical research is a core component of the work at New York’s medical schools as it advances knowledge of basic science and human health, as well as contributing to discoveries and cures to improve outcomes and reduce diseases for our citizens. Biomedical research is also a strong driver of economic growth – bringing high quality jobs as well as clinical trials to New Yorkers.
AMSNY works on behalf of our member medical schools and with other research institutions in the state to ensure that biomedical research remains robustly funded at both the state and federal level. AMSNY advocates for programs to assist in the recruitment and retention of top scientists, in addition to promoting efforts to improve diversity at the bench and supporting the next generation of investigators through early career programs.
NYFIRST
The global competition for the very best scientists is fierce. The NYFIRST program positions our medical schools to compete for scientific talent, ensuring the next breakthroughs occur in New York.
