AMSNY works on behalf of our member institutions to advance policies that affect medical education, biomedical research and the physician workforce. We work with policymakers and other stakeholders across the academic medical community to improve access to high quality medical care and improve patient outcomes. AMSNY champions legislative initiatives at state, federal and local levels – with a particular emphasis on advocacy in New York State.

AMSNY’s advocacy priorities include: increasing funding for research to advance scientific knowledge and develop new treatments and cures; support the development of a robust physician workforce capable of caring for an increasingly diverse population and addressing health disparities; generating interest in science and medicine and creating opportunities for students who have overcome adversity.
