Susan B. Anthony Center Honors Linda Chaudron, M.D.
February 9, 2015 – Linda H. Chaudron, M.D., senior associate dean for Diversity at the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD), has received this year’s Susan B. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award for her work as a champion of women in science and medicine. “Linda’s tenacious spirit guides her to mentor younger scholars to be their best and accomplish their goals. She is always there to provide a listening ear and encouraging word,” said Catherine Cerulli, J.D., Ph.D., director of the Susan B. Anthony Center at the University of Rochester.e.

Physicians & Surgeons Award for Excellence Recipient Dodi Meyer: Passionate About Community Service
February 4, 2015 – Dodi Meyer, MD, associate professor of pediatrics at CUMC, has spent more than two decades trying to reach these kids, often with great success. As director of the Community Pediatrics Program in the Department of Pediatrics, she has designed and supervised scores of innovative programs that work with community groups to help these children, either by increasing the health literacy of parents or training pediatricians in overcoming cultural barriers to care. For this work, Dr. Meyer received the 2014 P&S Community Service Award of Excellence at a Jan. 29 ceremony.

Grant Enables Students to Take University at Buffalo’s Practice Facilitator Course
February 10, 2015 – As part of a multimillion-dollar federal grant, between 60 and 70 students from around the country will take an online health care practice facilitator certificate course developed by the University at Buffalo’s Department of Family Medicine.

Forum Showcases 45 Diverse Medical Student Research Projects
February 6, 2015 – At the 2015 Medical Student Research Forum, aspiring physician-scientists showcased 45 original research projects they conducted at the University at Buffalo, its partner health care agencies and institutions nationwide. A record number of participants — 49 medical students — shared their projects with peers and faculty members through diverse poster presentations.

New Medical School Ranking Model Puts Albert Einstein in Top 10 Percent
January 30, 2015 – A newly developed method for assessing the quality of research-intensive medical schools puts Einstein in 13th place—in the top 10 percent of the nation’s medical schools and much higher than its current 34th place ranking in the 2014 U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) ratings. Physicians at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and University of California San Francisco and the research director of Doximity, the largest medical professional network in the U.S., developed the new evaluation method, which was published January 21, 2015 in Academic Medicine.

North Shore-LIJ Commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King with Scholarships, Awards
January 29, 2015 – Two students from Uniondale High School each received $2,500 scholarships toward their college educations on Friday afternoon during the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration ceremony at the corporate office in Great Neck.

Castle Connolly Names NYU Langone Medical Center Physicians to Annual “Top Doctors” Listings
February 9, 2015 – NYU Langone Medical Center today announced that 128 physicians across the spectrum of care were recognized as top doctors by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. in its 14th edition of “America’s Top Doctors.” Castle Connolly identifies the top 1 percent of physicians in the nation, in more than 60 medical specialties and subspecialties for the care and treatment of more than 1,700 diseases and medical conditions.
