Dr. Theodore Kastner to Assume Leadership Role at The Kennedy Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center
April 6, 2015 – Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Montefiore Health System have named Theodore A. Kastner, M.D., co-director of the Kennedy Center, whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, and director of its primary clinical arm, the Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC). Dr. Kastner assumed the new post on April 6.

NYU School of Medicine Leads Consortium of Medical Schools with Three-Year Accelerated Pathway MD Programs to Garner Best Practices
April 2, 2015 – NYU School of Medicine today announced it is leading a medical school consortium to identify and share best practices for the development of accelerated pathways to obtain a medical degree (MD). The consortium, funded by a four-year, $250,000 grant from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, will serve as an incubator that promotes necessary peer interaction to help ensure a more systematic approach to accelerated programs nationwide.

April 2, 2015 – Twenty-seven dedicated medical trainees and one faculty member have joined the University at Buffalo’s chapter of the national honor medical society Alpha Omega Alpha.

Medical Students Impress Judges at P&S Research Day
March 31, 2015 – “There’s amazing value in inserting into medical education opportunities for students to follow their noses,” Dr. Punt adds. “These students are really understanding what evidence is and what it isn’t, and I think when that’s integrated within medical school, you produce doctors more familiar with how they should evaluate evidence.”

Albany Medical Center Recognized with Healthcare Supply Chain Achievement Award
April 7, 2015 – At an Institute for Family Health center near Union Square in New York City, medical student Sara Stream asks a new patient named Alicia what brings her in. The 34-year-old woman arrived last summer from Guatemala, and says she hasn’t been seen by a doctor in many years.

A Neighborhood Welcome
March 30, 2015 – Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM)-Middletown invited Middletown locals, families, and friends to its Community Open House this past Sunday, March 22. Residents of the city spent the day on campus touring the facilities, sitting in on medical school presentations, and meeting their new neighbors: the administration, faculty, medical students and staff. Dr. Kenneth J. Steier, founding dean of TouroCOM-Middletown, thanked the community for “a great turnout and tremendous support.”
