ECRIP
The Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program (ECRIP), which provides critical research experience for early career physician-scientists.
New York State created the Empire Clinical Research Investigator program in 2000 to better position New York’s medical schools and teaching hospitals as international leaders in biomedicine, attracting the brightest medical students and physician trainees, and improving the state’s competitive position for federal research dollars.
Since its inception, ECRIP has provided over $120 million in research funding to 66 projects, helping advance medical breakthroughs and contributing to research that addresses health equity and mitigates health disparities.
Examples of recently funded research projects include exploring the use of non-opioid analgesics to address the opioid crisis; using comprehensive primary care strategies to address health disparities; and testing ways to minimize toxicity in chemotherapy for children and adolescents during cancer treatment.
