New York Medical College’s 156th Commencement Exercises Set for May 21

May 18, 2015 – A pioneer in physical therapy practice, education, and research, Jan K. Richardson P.T., Ph.D., OCS, FAPTA, will deliver the Commencement address to graduates of New York Medical College on May 21 at 5:00 p.m. in Carnegie Hall in New York City. The College will award 205 doctor of medicine (M.D.) degrees, 31 doctor of physical therapy (D.P.T.) degrees, 9 doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees, 74 master of science (M.S.) degrees, 104 master of public health (M.P.H.) degrees and 6 doctor of public health (Dr.P.H.) degrees to the Class of 2015.

New NYIT COM Physicians Celebrate at Hooding Ceremony

May 18, 2015 – Family and friends of the 283 graduates of NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) packed the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on May 18 to celebrate with the new doctors just weeks before they begin their residency training. The Class of 2015 achieved a 100 percent match and placement rate. Seven recipients of armed forces scholarships took the military oath of office administered by Captain Roy Guinto (D.O. ’10).

Upstate Medical University to Award 506 Degrees at Commencement May 17

May 13, 2015 – Upstate Medical University Interim President Gregory L. Eastwood, MD, will award 506 degrees and five professional certificates to graduates of the university’s colleges of Graduate Studies, Health Professions, Medicine, and Nursing at Upstate’s Commencement ceremonies Sunday, May 17 at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center at Oncenter, 421 Montgomery St., Syracuse. Each college will present its own ceremony that day to individually recognize graduating students.

2015 Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons Gradutes: Meet a Few of the Newest Physicians

May 12, 2015 – More than 150 College of Physicians & Surgeons students will receive MD degrees in ceremonies on May 20. Meet a few of the graduates, who discuss their P&S experiences and their plans after medical school.

From Student-Pioneers to New Physicians

May 5, 2015 – A long-anticipated day will arrive with much fanfare on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 11:00 am when 30 students from the first class of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine become the nation’s newest doctors and scientists. Commencement will be held at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University followed by a reception at the School of Medicine.

D.O. Day in Albany

May 1, 2015 – This past week, TouroCOM students travelled to Albany for a day of advocacy. The fifth annual D.O. Day, sponsored by the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society (NYSOMS), comes on the heels of their most recent trip to D.C. for D.O. Day on the Hill, and was another chance to present their views to their political representatives, asking for their support on issues relevant to the osteopathic profession.

Melissa Schiff, M.D. Honored with Highland Hospital Distinguished Physician Award

May 15, 2015 – Melissa Schiff, M.D., recently received Highland Hospital’s Distinguished Physician Award for 2014. Dr. Schiff, Chief of Nephrology at Highland Hospital, Professor of Clinical Medicine at University of Rochester Medical Center and Medical Director at Clinton Crossings Dialysis Unit, has served Highland for more than 30 years.

Mount Sinai Doctors Victory Internal Medicine Brings Quality Care to Residents of Staten Island

May 11, 2015 – With the goal of enhancing health care services for the residents of New York City’s southernmost borough, the Mount Sinai Health System has announced the acquisition of the newly-renamed Mount Sinai Doctors Victory Internal Medicine, a medical group practice based on Staten Island. Featuring 13 physicians at two locations in the neighborhoods of Annadale and Westerleigh/Willowbrook, Mount Sinai Doctors Victory Internal Medicine is the newest addition to the System’s expanding services in the borough and beyond.
