New York Medical College Students Express Gratitude to Their First Patients During Convocation of Thanks
The Convocation of Thanks in May offered an opportunity for future physicians to pay tribute through reflections, art, song, and poetry to “their first patients,” the individuals who generously donated their bodies to New York Medical College for anatomical studies. Yecheskel Gold, School of Medicine (SOM) Class of 2028, opened the annual event with his own words of gratitude, “Because of the generosity of the donors, we were able to see where the vessels ran, how structures relate to each other, something that a computer program or book couldn’t relate to us, and the knowledge that we gain will hopefully make us better doctors.” Learn More
Albany Medical College Celebrates the Class of 2025
More than 200 degrees were awarded during Albany Medical College’s 187th Commencement ceremonies on May 8 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Albert Einstein College of Medicine Celebrates Its 67th Commencement
Albert Einstein College of Medicine honored its Class of 2025 on May 21 at its graduation ceremony at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center. At the event, Einstein conferred 167 M.D. degrees and 28 Ph.D. degrees. In addition, 10 graduates of Einstein’s Medical Scientist Training Program received both an M.D. and a Ph.D. degree, and 13 graduates received master of science degrees or other certificates. After a multi-year process of development and garnering approvals, the new Genetic Counseling Graduate Program at UB has received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC), the field’s national accrediting organization. The two-year Master of Science program, which will be administered by the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ Office of Biomedical Education, will prepare students to become board-certified genetic counselors, who help patients understand genetic risks and guide decision-making. Mount Sinai Health System recognized Dennis S. Charney, MD, the outgoing Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Dean of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, for 18 years of leadership and service at its 40th annual Crystal Party, May 20, at Pier Sixty, 60 Chelsea Piers. Dr. Charney is one of the longest-serving deans of any medical school nationwide and will step down as Dean on Monday, June 30.
