Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disease affecting over10 million people worldwide. Although deep brain stimulation (DBS) has been used to treat PD for over 20 years, the mechanism of action is currently unclear. Advanced imaging options ana analysis of intraoperative neuronal recordings can offer insights on the physiological changes induced by DBS. Understanding these changes could provide the basis for a more personalized therapeutic approach.
